Teacher Specialties: Viola, Violin

I love helping people learn how to practice more efficiently. I try to always have a smile on my face and encourage my students when I teach. I have been told that I am patient, so if this is the type of teacher you need, I am here for you!

I believe that so many life skills can be learned through studying a musical instrument. My goals are to help (younger) students learn these skills while showing them they can achieve much more than they originally thought. For adult students especially, I love to give them an outlet for enjoyment and relaxation, and something they can do to keep their minds strong for many years to come.
I am passionate about making music fun and enjoyable for my students while teaching students life skills. I believe that excellence can be achieved in a positive and nurturing way.

I highly recommend using the Suzuki Method along with various sightreading books, but I am also open to supplementing or substituting that with other materials, styles, or methods.

I was two and a half when I started Suzuki violin lessons, and I have had a great experience with this method as a student, parent, and teacher.

I studied at Bradley University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the University of Oklahoma, earning my bachelor’s, master’s, professional studies diploma, and doctorate degrees respectively. I have played with the Tulsa Symphony, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, MacArthur String Quartet, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Illinois Orchestra. I have been teaching violin and viola lessons for over 25 years. Teaching is what gives me joy because I can give this gift to others.

I have been to Russia, Estonia, and most countries in Europe, and I even studied abroad in Denmark. My mother is from Colombia, so I speak Spanish. I enjoy all things international! I can teach in English and Spanish.
